Cannot build Newtons University

I my current game, I´m trying to build Newtons University in my capitol, but the option is greyed out. In fact, I can´t build any wonders or small wonders in that city. I have built wonders there previously (Great Library, Copernicus).

I can build wonders in every other city, just not my capitol. I seem to remember that this has happened before in one mof my games, but I can´t remember how I solved it.

Anyone now what causes this?

Probably a stupid governor from another city assigned automatically to build that wonders.

And probably your capital isn't clos to water - for Great Lighthouse !!

I had something like that happen to me before. It would let me build any wonders in my capitol. I solved the problem by building the wonder in New York instead!

Did you for example clear a forest close to the city or disband a unit in it? Rushing wonders is not allowed (other than with a great leader) and if you have done anything that increases the number of shields (like clearing forests) you are unable to build a wonder in that city until you build something else and start from scratch again.

No, I checked all my cities and none of them are building Newtons or have it in the build queue.

Yeah, I could do that, but I wan´t it in the city that produces the most science

Hmm, this sounds interesting. I might have disbanded a unit in that city. I´ll have to go back a few saves and check.

It´s a pretty weird feature though, if true. Some buildings take forever to build and if you help it out by disbanding units or chopping down forests, you are effectively embargoing (sp?) it from switching to a wonder, if you wanted to.
