Hi everybody
I have a Dell dimension 4600 with Windows XP Home (danish version). Yesterday i just bought a new DVD-writer from Lite-on because i wanted to play Civilization IV, which I just had for christmas. After installing the drive into the computer it had no problem playing DVD-movies or reading my normal CD-roms, but when I put in the DVD-rom with Civilization IV, it wouldn't run the program-files on the disc
. It is still possible to open "my computer" and see all the files on it, but when i try to run the program-files it comes up with the message: D:\ (filename) is not a valid win32-program. Even if I run DirectX9.0 on the disc it still comes up with the same error message.
I have tried:
-The game on another computer, where it worked fine.
-a new drive of the same kind (same problem)
-another DVD-drive from another manufacturer (BTC DVDRW IDE 16) (still same problem)
-changing from DMA to IPO only
-updating the newest drivers from the manufacturers website
-updating my Windows XP
-Updating my intel 865 chipset
-checked the games minimum and recommended requirements, which both are OK with my computer.
Any ideas for solving my problem are greatly appreciated or if you have an idea where to ask someone who knows it.
