Cannot save

Hi,
I've got a strange problem that hasn't happened to me before. At the moment I'm playing a Civ3-Conquests Mod (TAM - the ancient mediterrean) and when I want to save it doesn't create a save-file. The strange thing is that at the beginning of a game I can save, but some turns later (about 50 turns) it doesn't work
My operating system is Win XP.
Does anybody know what the problem could be?

edit: this time I saved and looked in the saves-folder, and I could see that it creates a save-file but the save files disappears when I hit F5. I have no clue why...

Which operating system? If Vista or Win7 I am thinking VirtualStore.

In any case, do you get an error or just can't find the save file?

Thanks for the answer, but I think I found the problem.
After deactivating the Norton Internet Security i could save without problems (my operating system is xp). Because I was saving and loading alot, maybe the antivirus-program thought it was some kind of problem
