Cannot see the ground

I know that my computer is rather low-end but I am unable to see the ground. It is completely black as is the ocean and mountains. I can see the tide along the beach and this is the only way I am able to distinguish and ocean. Rivers, trees, deer, whale, and other resources are all visible. Please tell me if there is a way to fix this or if my computer is just that horrible!

I am not the most technologically gifted but I think my is a Via/S3G UniChrome IGP if that makes sense to anyone

Firstly, try patching the game. If it doesn't fix it for you then your videocard is the problem has most IGP's don't support hardware TnL which the game needs to display the map correctly. The only solution would be an upgrade to the video.

See if entering world builder and the "reveal all map" option works.
