Can't bomb units(Federation)

I've been playing Federation for quite awhile and I'm about to embark to the glorious road of conquer and war across the galaxy......but now as I declared war on the Dominion I'm unable to bomb their units.....sure I can bombard their city defences, but not the units which I think is quite vital unless I want to take HUGE losses just for conquering a single planet(Using 160 ships I was able conquer 3 planets and then I ran out of units).

Is this a bug or missing feature on Federation units, since Romulan Scimitar has this ability and it's a HUGE advantage. You just make maybe 30 Scimitar and bomb away at any fleet and booooom. And also do something to the sub-space missiles....the A.I uses them like candy, it doesn't care if it bombs everything around it's own territory just to destroy fleet of few ships. I've seen planet surrounded by sub-space radiation.

I assume you mean the ranged attack? The Scimitar has that as a unique ability. All "Exploration" units can do it though.

Noticed something similar: although having build several subspace warheads, I can´t seem to detonate them - neither on system squares nor on enemy ships...

You can't nuke something if you have a nearby unit within the nuking radius.
