Can't Build Corporations

I was playing CIV GOLD3.0 BTS today and i was preparinbg to get Sid's Sushi Corp. and I got the great merchant, and i had all 4 of the resources, but for some reason i couldn't build the HQ, as it came up as a darkened square. Is it something with the mod, or am I just missing some other requirement I don't know about?
 
Most likely it has nothing to do with the CIV Gold mod, because we did not touch anything that has to do with corporations. Are you sure you are running the proper civics to found a corporation? Or is Sid's Sushi already founded by another civ?
 
Not sure, but it should be in the Civilopedia. I think State Property disables all corporations.

@Fierabras- What are the correct civics for Corps? :lol: ( I just got BTS on Christmas)

In general, you need 'Corporation' tech, then a tech specific to the type of corporation (Medicine for Sushi, Mass Media for Jewelers). Then you need one of the required type of resources (Crab, Clam, Fish or Rice for Sushi). Then you need a specific type of GP to found the Corp in a city containing one of the above.

So..

1 - techs
2 - resources
3 - Great Person
4 - found in a city with the resource

All of these are specific to the type of corporation, to boot.

Does Mercantilism prevent you from founding a corporation?

I am playing a game right now, and having finished all the techs and having access to the goods, I was unable to make Sid's Sushi. I blew two other GP, started a golden age, and switched away from Mercantalism (to Environmentalism; also changing Nationalism to Free Speech and Pacifism to Theocracy), and then when I re-selected the Great Merchant, Found Corporation was now a lit up option.

Nothing I've seen on these boards, in the civilopedia, or any other documentation implies that any of those civics should be removing my ability to found a corp- Mercantalism denies foreign corps their usefulness but shouldn't affect mine.

What's going on? Anyone know?
 
That's a strange combination as it cuts off foreign trade routes, but it shouldn't disable the founding of corporations - unlike State Property ofcourse. (Who's ever heard of a corp in like the Soviet Union, dppilot?! Silly boy.)
