I played Civ 5 until last summer, then played the G&K once, got busy and didn't get to play it again until now. When I try to start Civ5, I get a Steam message that says "Steam.exe (main exception): CMultiFieldBlob(pSerialized): Bad field - extends past end of blob" There's an OK button, so I click that (because there is no other option), then nothing happens.

Can anyone tell me what this means and how I can start Civ5?

I have two folders named Program Files...one is followed by "(x86)"...the one listed as just "Program Files" doesn't have much in it. The Steam folder is in the (x86) folder, and there must be 50 files in there, BUT no Steam.exe (there is a "Steam", but it doesn't do anything)...I do see the Steamapps. When I try to open the file named "Steam", I get the message I described above.

OK, I uninstalled Steam, then I reinstalled Steam; and now I'm downloading Civ 5.

If I have Civ 5 on my pc, why do I need to download it? It seems that the download is progressing very slowly...after 30 minutes of downloading, it appears to be about 35% complete.

Well, I'm back on Steam and I have access to my account ; and I've downloaded "Civilization V", but it's G&K. I have the game dvd-rom of Civ5, so I tried to use that to play Civ5, but I keep getting G&K, instead.

How do I play Civ 5?
