Can't install Civ IV Complete on XP/Vista

Hello there,
I have a problem, well, actually the problem belongs to a pal of mine to whom I lent my CIV 4 Complete Edition: he tried to install it, but it gets stuck at the installation phase with no message nor reason. He tried it both with XP and Vista and the problem is the same. It is no matter of system requirements, either.

Sounds like civ4 can't run right on windows 7/vista?

i had the same problem, but i eventually managed to install it, i beleive you have to search the files on the disc for a different way of installing it, but im not sure, it was a few years ago.
