During the install process, upon inserting the 2nd CD and clicking "ok" I get an error message that says "catastrophic error". There's only one thing to click on that little message window ("ok") and then the install window closes and the entire install process is terminated. It seems to copy all the files from CD #1 just fine...the install progress bar goes about halfway across before asking for disc #2. (BTW, disc #2 shows a 660MB or so /cab file)
I called the tech support phone number, and they sent me an email with tips to fix an install problem...none of them either applied or helped. Called them back and they said it sounded like a defective CD #2. So, I went back to the store and exchanged it for another. Same problem.
Has anyone else had this problem? I've installed MANY games over the years, and I have never had this issue. I'm running WinXP SP2, and in fact, did a complete fresh reformat/reinstall of Windows about 6 weeks ago, so my system isn't bogged down with too much junk. It just doesn't want to continue the install process from CD #2. I wish it were on 1 DVD, then I wouldn't have this problem.
I tried closing out every service I could (running in the background) and also tried using my other optical drive (a DVD RW/CD Rom) and no luck.
I'm very annoyed. Looks like $50 down the drain....
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
