I got a new PC recently, and for the most part I love it. However, I am haveing one problem. It included a disklabeled "OfficeSuite," which (I think) has Microsoft Word, Excel, and some other programs on it. However, WinXP never fails to crash when I try to install it! Wordpad doesn't seem like a good replacement for Word98 (which was on my old PC). I've tried just moving Word from my old computer, but I couldn't figure out which files were needed. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Or perhaps know of something I can get for free?

Never try to copy the files over to run the program. It wont work.

Try running your computer in safe mode and then installing it.

It is a free program that I like better than MS Office. You can save the files that you make in OpenOffice in MS formats if you want but by default the program saves the files in a compressed XML file (meaning that the files are about 1/7th to 1/10th the size of MS Offfice files).
