Cant Install

with the OK box below that when clicked returns me to my Desktop
signifying no Install.
Can anyone point me in the right ddirection to make it past this first (and hopefully last) setback so I can start to enjoy this game?

yes i had to same problem and posted earlier today, with no replies, maybe nobody knows! but i hope somebody has some ideas

I am not sure if my error is similar to yours. I get an data3.cab message which shows files waiting to be written to a CD. I get this every time (I've tried installing three times on two different pc's) when I insert disk 2. When I try to play after installing (cancelling out this window and continuing the install) I get the cab3 message waiting to be written to CD. It's the weirdest thing I have ever seen. The install itself seem sto progress normally other than the cab message between discs 1 and 2.

i've never had any problems installing any of the games i play so idk what to do.

well try and narrow it down a bit.

install it on a different machine.

If it doesnt work there, take it back and get a new disk.

If it works, the fun begins.)

will do, fortunately im going to my brothers house tomorrow, so i'll try it there and if it still doesnt work i guess i'll get another and try again.

Didn't get any responses as to the exact cause. Don't have a 2nd machine to install to, so the box and all is going back. Alas, my wife bought it online, so it's gonna be 2 weeks before I see it again. I told her to just ask for credit and tell Firaxis to stick it where the sun don't shine (seeing as there are all of these patches/install errors/play issues with the game). Loved Civ I through III, loved Alpha Centuri, but I don't think it's worth the hassle at this point, and this latest problem just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. That and being totally unable to contact anyone at 2Kgames.

I am having the exact same problem with my install as ep!c. If there is anyone with any suggestions please let us all know, otherwise back to the store with Civ IV.

I am also having the CRC error when installing the ...msi file. I am about to take my software back and exchange it.

I cant believe all these people have faulty machines....
I went to that web site that checks your computer to see if it is compatible
with the game and my system is above all the min reqs.

Cant even get in touch with the makers of the game...Returning the CD to the place I bought it is a Joke....
I need an address to send my personal opinions to the people responsible for this farce...

This is a first install, and I don't have another machine to check it on. In addition, I am unable to reach the "offical" support website because of high volume of traffic. This further leads me to believe its not a local problem, but a disk problem.

Crap, I remember reading about this and how it was fixed... but i dont know where AUGH.

I replaced my software and it loaded up just fine.
