Can't open Civ IV on Desktop

I installed a copy of Civ IV: Complete Edition (which includes Civ IV, BTS, Warlords, and Civ4Col) on my laptop (already had it installed on my tower computer), but there when it was done I didn't see any new icons on my computer's desktop. Was able to drag the icon from Civ4Col to desktop and and open it from there, but when I tried to do the same thing with the Civ IV app, it didn't work. I was able to drag it to my desktop, but when I tried to open it, it gave me error messages about not having certain .dll files on my desktop and wouldn't start. I can still start it if I keep it in the Civ IV folder in the Program Files folder, but I would like to be able to start it from my desktop. Any suggestions??
(by the way, my laptop has windows 10)

Using Windows 7, you right click the exe in the CIV folder and select the choice to place a shortcut on the desktop. The shortcut icon just connects to the exe when clicked. Since the exe is still in the CIV folder, it can find the dll fine. Since you are using Windows 10, there should be a similar option to place a shortcut on the desktop, although I have not looked at Windows 10.
