Can't start the game

pls help... i can't start the game...

after the small box that says initializng what not...
when it says DONE... my cursor disappears and i have to click to get it back and it stays at that screen.... doesn't enter the game... i have already patched it to 1.52

I have exactly the same problem. Have tried reinstalling and no difference. I have the DVD version of the game. Here is my dxdiag dump.

I think its the DVD version...
mine is a DVD version as well

Hapens on mine too but I have the CD version
