Capital name

Everyone our glorious capital has been founded! However we have left it with the default name. Is that what we wish to happen? I was under the impression that all of our cities would be player named, however I am new to the demo-game, so I may be mistaken.

I would like to know what people think about this issue, should we rename our capital, and if so what should we rename it?

I know there have been one or two suggestions for capital name in the nation name thread, do people support those, or would you choose something else.

My personal suggestion would be to name our capital silver forest based on the large ammount of trees near our city, and the source of silver to our southwest.

As the thread has been official been blessed by the cheiftan I'll begin posting a list of suggested names here, hopefully soon we'll be able to open a poll on capital name with all seconded city names.

Manu Ali - Mongolian meaning our settlement or our group of tents - 3 supporters

Xanadu - The name of Kubli Kahn's summer palace - 3 supporters

Yakville - after the Yak an important animal to mongols - 2 supporters

Alphhot - hot is mongolian for city, with the added suggestion our river be named alph - 2 supporters

Silver forest - for the available resources - 1 supporter

I agree that we should work towards choosing a name. However, I'm not the type of person you want coming up with creative names.

According to Initiative: Naming, which has now passed, the Cheftain is to open a thread, to accept nominations from the public for the new city's name. All nominated names which have been seconded after four days will then be polled.

That said, I'm in favour of the name "Manu Ail" which means "our settlement/our group of tents"

The Mongolian word for city is hot (it seems), what about Alphhot? Gives us a nice name for the river too (Alph).

I was unaware that it was the cheiftan's duty to create the thread, thank you for the information furius. I appologize for starting the thread prematurely, but hopefully some good will come from it.

I like the idea, Manu Ali, sounds interesting and fits with what has been discussed in the nation name thread. Xanadu is good as well, one of the few poems I remember from high school

If there are no other suggestions for the city name I believe I'll start the poll for this after the upcomming turnchat as there is clearly not enough time for a good poll before the next part of the game and we don't want the DP to accidently act on an incomplete poll

The way I've been updating the supporter list is by giving people as many votes as they want, because this is simply the nomination thread I don't believe that it's a bad thing to do, when it comes to the official poll each person will have only a single vote.

As for the idea of selecting the names from the citizen registry list, I was unaware of that tradition being new to the demo game, I'll scan through that and see if there are any city name suggestions I should post.
