Ok I went through the registry and looked at the city names, coppied and pasted them into a word document and realized it takes up 1 and a half pages. Only one city name was seconded in the registry (Athens) and I believe a good number of them were jokes. I'll post them here so you guys can read through them more easily. In my personal opinion, I'd say the ones suggested here are better and should go on the poll but if you see anything in the big list that you like say so.

I wouldn't use that list, come on a multiple choice poll with like 50 options? It might be used for other cities though, but not the capital.

Yeah I'm still all for the Mongolian connection for the capital with Manu Ail (Rough translation - Our Settlement/Tent) as my first option, then take names from the list above or any other list without the need for a Mongolian flavour.

So for our second city - 'Mon Gotham!

I'd forgotten that we haven't even discussed yet (or recently) what our nations name was! We discussed it, but decided to wait until we knew our civ. Than we just forgot. I think we're all getting old.

We could always do what we did in Civ3 DG2 when we ran out of names at the end. "City1", "City2", "City3", etc. (I think it was C1, C2, C3... actually). Basically, by the time we had 200 cities, we started filling in gaps with extra little cities and just going all-out Infinite City Sprawl. I think we were trying for a last minute culture rush.

Civ IV dosen't seem to result in as many cities as Civ III did, though...

DG1 used the "suggest names and poll" method, and didn't have any problems.

The order of signup and CoC methods were seen as eliteist, so the people rose up against them and passed the rule we have now.

Well because the discussion has moved away from city names to how we should poll the city names I belive it's time to move forward with the poll.

The citizen's initiative "Naming" governs this area so I'll be starting the poll with all names that have been seconded in this thread. I know some want the nation name first, I think they should be about ready to poll as well, hopefully one of the people that has been running that thread will start the poll so we can have both decisions soon.

no I don't think we need that many name, that was a list of all of the names in the citizen registry. One of the reasons I prefer the suggestion and poll method to the just follow the registry plan. People near the end of the registry can still have a say in city names.
