Yesterday I ran into a unique issue...

Having a war with the Mongols...It took me several turns and a few losses to capture one of his cities. I was able to capture the city and moved on. Now the city was in a unruly state for a few turns (3 I think) I did have units stationed there. But after a couple of turns I get a message that that the city reverted to one of my allies control(??!!) WTH!

So is there a way to 'capture' a city without declairing a war on the controlling party. I was pretty sure the captured city was within my SOI.

Any advices?

If you capture a city, it will lose all it's culture(making) buildings (except wonders). If youre captured city is under a lot of cultural pressure from other cities (enemy but also friendly) the city can convert.

-After the revolt start building culture, buildings or just culture.
-Put a lot of units in the city to counter the revolt, there has been a post out here were someone was kind enough to tell you how many units you need for countering # culture pressure.
- You can also use a great artist to quickly build culture, use him right after you take the city, and the revolt will be over instantly to.

Not only is there a way to do it, but it is the cornerstone of one of the more bizarre variants I have seen: Domination win with Always Peace enabled :crazyeye:

I recommend reviewing Sulla's Passive-Aggressive Hatty report.

actually it WAS Hatty who nicked my city!!!

but we were allied - i.e. had like a +12 relationship going...

Sulla's Passive Aggressive Hatty report is an excellent study in how culture flipping works. Those extreme strategic games are always great for getting a deep understanding of a particular aspect of the game.
