Capturing Acheron

So the options are, in order of likely preference:

1. Throw some fodder at him before capturing him to give him some exp for mobility (probably has to be the same round).
2. Trojan horse
3. Attack from the coast, raze the city, build a new one on top of him, and boat him out.

How about haste? Are dragons considered "living" units that are affected by spells like haste?

Immunity to magic. No magic spells work on him.

MagisterCultuum mentioned a solution to this very topic a couple weeks ago: give Acheron an equipment promotion of -1 to movement on creation. Once you capture him, you can then drop the equipment. That, IMO seems to be the best, albeit imperfect solution for now, and certainly better than these ideas of razing/rebuilding cities on top of him, carrying him on trojan horse, artificially inflating his xp, etc.

Having him gain xp isn't that hard. What are the chances you win your first attack on Acheron? Feel free to actually post the chances it gave you if you have them.

The problem isn't giving him xp, it is capturing it before the Barb AI spends the xp on combat promotions

It isnt really a problem. If you go for Archie you must be sure you can do it in 1 turn. Indeed weaken him for the XP, capture him with a beastmaster and give him mobility. And then......whee the competition :D

I hit him with 2 paladins, then Sphener captured him with Command IV. A bit late in the game, sure, but it was fun :-).

What I don't understand is exactly how Acheron is immobilized - which is unfortunate because someone worked a system with a negative movement promotion that he lost on (death but in reality) capture. I copied the idea, based off their instructions, and the promotion giving/takings system worked, but I had no way of seeing if it kept him in place/freed him because I couldn't identify and disable Kael's mechanic.

So, if someone could elaborate, I could make a mod mod, but it really should be implemented this way in the main game.

Currently, Acheron (and Barbatos) just have 0 movement. That system should work. There was a version or two however where Kael had changed Acheron to DOMAIN_IMMOBILE, which meant he could never move.
