Caravan Question

I just got all the upgrades from vanilla. The gold upgrade and BNW. My question s when you set up a caravan from city a to city b for production. When city a sends 4 production to city b does city a lose the production or is it excess production that is sent?

It is extra production -- no decrease in the "sending" city's production.

More importantly; cargo ships are the same way and so is food.

They're great for pumping up a mega capital or getting a new city up and running. The values increase as the game progresses so settling a new city to snag oil or aluminum isn't such a bad prospect anymore. I'll send a ship or caravan to every new city I found, if I have a lot of happiness it'll be food if I'm short on happiness it'll be hammers.

Internal trade is my favorite part of BNW
