Last night I was up playing Civ III on my laptop, after my wife had gone to bed. My two cats were in the room, one of which is fascinated by my laptop.

She jumped up on my knee and stared intently at the screen for a few seconds. I was controlling a large empire but had a right of passage agreement with another civ, who was pushing quite a sizable army across my territory. She saw all the archers running across the screen, so she started to try and swat them with her paw

I think I may modify my game so you can build a cat's paw unit!

Interesting.

I think I read somewhere that animals couldn't see 2 dimensional images?

Was that wrong? :crazyeye:

Yeah - it's all about movement.

My cats will not be able to see a spider in front of them on the floor if it is stays comlpetely motionless. As soon as the spider moves it's history....

Are the spiders in your house 2 dimensional? ;)

hehe, a firend of mine had two cats that would watch TV - sit on top of it and watch it by leaning forward and looking back under their legs...

whenever a dog was shown, both would be frightened - which resulted in the smart one bolting and hte dumb one toppling off the TV onto her head

Strange though, my cat does not even seem to notice anything on the screen.

That's because your cat has 'highly advanced vision.'

You should be proud! Your cat can actually see, all the small, miniscule flashing lightbulbs that make up your screen, creating horizontal lines. Hence, not much to look at.

Isn't that the case with most insects?

A family cat once sent me hurtling over a cliff in Action Half Life.

Once I was playing around with unit creation and I created a "candy corn" unit! It was a HUGE candy corn! For attack, it body slammed the opposing unit and an explosion cloud would form upon impact. It was funny! Well, anyway, my cat came up to the screen and sat there watching the candy corn intently. My cat was so fascinated!!!

Cats vision is only a bit better then ours. A popular myth about cats is that the are nocturnal hunters, they are crepescular hunters.
btw mine is sitting on my lap clawing th s*** out of my arm at this moment.. OUCH!!

Eeep.

Your cat is gazing at perfection..... and wondering how to rip the shreds out of it:lol:

My cat was once playing with the cables at the back of the computer and nearly got electrocuted. Dumb cat.

That would have been shocking. Watt was your cat currently thinking?

I have no history with cats. Although my Mom did once rescue a cat which beat the crap out of my fat pug's face. I kind of felt bad. Come to think of it, I can't remember what happened to that cat . . .
