Caveman 2 Cosmos

I saw there was already some discussion about the hunting changes, but wanted to add another opinion. I think the new hunting makes the prehistoric era way too easy. I feel like I am blowing past my rivals with a huge capital and plenty of science due to all the hunting kills. Perhaps my experience is different from what others are seeing, because I use the teleport hunting kills option. I also had stone near my capital, thus getting the neanderthal bonus for stronger hunters.

So maybe my play style isn't typical, but I would love an option to tone down some of the massive hunting hauls.

It involves tons of RNG luck, more than anything else. Even pretty serious units can be decimated by hiding tigers, but you can just keep breezing through flocks of harmless pigeons, lol.

Try playing without Size matters Option. That makes hunting too easy.

Debatable. Big units get bigger, small units get smaller. You'd still have the same problem of Pigeons and Buffalos, loool.
There is still the Master Hunter with several Bottleneck promotions, in addition to the usual ones. That one is a beast.

Actually given the size of some animal unit volumes, SM is often much harder - that said I keep going back to hunters should not be able to merge which brings it back to them needing to use their stealth to survive. As hunters do.

If U dont use Stealth Option either, then vanilla Hunting is harder.

Yeah, again, there, there's 2 ways to see that. Either kind of game I tend to blend to use military and hunters and recon to create a hunting party. No matter what there's give and take that seems to make them all difficult just in different ways honestly. Stealth doesn't work against all dangerous animals - but it works nicely against barbs where without it, one really needs military for the barbs and such or the hunters are meat soon as they meet. Not saying that hunting is 'easy' on any option setting. It's all just differing reasons for hard vs not hard and it's always going to depend on what animals and barbs you find prowling about your regions.

Any word from the discord crew on next SVN update?

Well, I'm not sure if there's a problem with appveyor. REALLY wish we could get @raxxo back for all that. Or @Toffer90 - even just for this my friend. Calvitix is genius and some of the things lately have been so cool we may be looking at a whole new version release soon AGAIN because of the stuff going into the works on a modding project for recon, along with some BIG HUUUUGE AI improvements, but they are so so with the SVN improvements. I'm still terrible at understanding HOW to push all the git dev to the svn and kinda need someone to take an almost dedicated role in understanding how cuz the guys doing coding right now are doing great stuff but keeping SVN updated isn't their strength and its definitely not mine. I'll ask.

@calvitix Where do you put the 2 .dll files you posted for Hehe to try? Where should they go?

I'll upload the new files in the modmod section soon, compatible with the new SVN.

You have to replace the existing files in mods\caveman2cosmos\assets
Thank you kind sir. :)

Can Anyone Give me pointers on how to find the directions to ZIP a saved file? I haven't zipped a file in years, but I have WinZip and three other programs on a trial basis...

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1295660/Sid_Meiers_Civilization_VII/ $69.99 on Steam.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/8800/Civilization_IV_Beyond_the_Sword/ $5.99 on Steam. Wonder what The Entire Sid Meier's Civilization Series, from 1 to 7, with all DLC costs? I actually have everything except for 1 and 7, but I have spent 90 percent of my Time on C2C and Fall From Heaven, which are FREE!!!

WinZip is part of Windows and to zip a file or folder you use the right-click menu: "send to - Compressed (zipped) Folder" which will then create such a folder in the same directory with a copy of your file/folder. WinRar and 7-Zip do similar with more options like directory browsing and format choices, also accessed via right-click after installation.

I know I've already stated this opinion, but some of these new hunting rewards are just silly. I am able to cross the oceans and dropped down my 1st new colony. Encountered some kind of whale shortly after that, and got roughly 10k food. My new colony jumped from size 1 to 23, and is now one of the biggest in my empire. These sea creatures are easy kills at this stage in the game and that level of reward is absurdly generous.

From the latest SVN changelog:

- ban bird from peaks

Thankyou! One of the biggest irritations of this mod has been finally dealt with, No longer constant "The Enemy has been spotted near Rome!" every turn

Apparently I've become the biggest impediment to the mod's growth so at this point I'm done and stepping down. I'm realizing that my position here is doing nothing for me except to expand an ego problem I already have naturally to begin with, as if nobody knows that. To work on letting go of all things that matter to me in life, I'm going to walk away and try to find peace now. The guys on the discord seem to have plenty of things they wish to do with the mod that will go in very different directions than I had hoped. I think if I'm going to keep maintaining the vision I have developed here, I'll probably have to do it on a new game I teach myself how to program so I'll just do that someday, much like every other someday plan I have ever had. I don't think of myself as old. I found this site when I was 40 and perhaps I wasn't then. But time has accelerated, demands have accelerated, and not ending up homeless has become a dramatically optimistic and unrealistic hope. When I began I was somehow able to live on a part time sales job and poured effort into this like crazy in hopes that someday we'd get it to become this amazing multi-mapped fully galactic game of exploration in the most granular manner possible. I felt it was a duty to manifest the vision I insisted on since I had needed to insist so much on it that I pissed everyone off as I stepped into this role to begin with. But honestly, I get it now. I'm just an ******* who's in the way of progress and always has been. This was never my project to run - it was only the illusion I maintained so as to give my life a sense of meaning. Not that I don't need that somehow but I'll stop burdening everyone with that here. The demon you've been strapped with is no longer going to cast its shadow. Enjoy. Just have fun.
