CBP players, what do you think about Civ VI so far?

There seriously is more people playing Civ 5 than Civ 6 now. 22k Civ 6, 35k Civ 5. What a flop. I don't think playerbase retention was ever this bad for a current civ title, but it's no wonder people prefer Civ 5 considering the poor state of the game, though at least it'll be good in two years, maybe. Provided it didn't flop hard enough they won't even make more than one expansion because it sure doesn't look promising now.

People were calling vanilla Civ V dead as well until Gods and Kings, so I wouldn't be too worried about the poor numbers right now.

Civ 6 has so much potential. The biggest problem for me is the new movement system...if my unit with 1 movement left has no possible moves, then end the unit's turn for me! I hate constantly having to hit "skip turn" when clearly that is the only option.

Which only proves Civ6 was made wrong way on purpose, so you can milk it afterwards in add-ons and DLC. Plus - if you check how many things are banned in multi games, it shows how poorly balanced game is. Those balance issues could not gave gone unnoticed, someone just decided to let them slip.

Bite late but thanks for the Civ 4 related suggestions.

As (very relatively) mixed as the reception for 6 is, it's definitely better than I remember BE's being and google says it's the fastest-selling in the franchise so I doubt it'll get abandoned like BE was. And the reception really isn't mixed, it has an 89 on metacritic and Very Positive on Steam. It's a game with a lot of issues and those issues aren't completely ignored (the top couple reviews on Steam are negative) but those issues are for the most part only relevant to the more in-depth players, which are probably a small percentage of the playerbase.

And now that we're out of the honeymoon period, Civ 5 does have roughly 8 times the install base that 6 does, so it having more concurrent players than 6 isn't too surprising.

It's disappointing to see a game pushed out the door with as many balance/AI issues and broken mechanics as Civ 6 has, but that's business, I guess. Next time I'll probably try and restrain myself and wait until the game is in a better state before buying, but I've still had fun with it in spite of that, so eh.
