I bought civ IV for my computer last christmas, and it worked perfect on windows xp, i have upgraded to windows 7 and when i put the disc in the drive, it says there is no disc in the drive (the disc also has no significant scratches just like 3 game scratches , all my other discs work apart from this :/
any help?
thanks in advance

Can you read the disc in the drive with Windows explorer? If co copy the contents of the disc to a folder on your ard drive and install from there. If you can read it at all try cleaning it or copy the disc to a folder on another pc and copy the folder to your computer to install.

it doesnt read the disk whats so ever, just says insert disk it cd drive
:/
ive tried booting from start up but that does nothing just sits on a black screen untill i press esc :/
ive tried on my family computer and it doesnt recognise the disk either, thats on windows 7 aswell... before i got my computer i played civ 4 on that computer whilst on vista then played on xp untill i upgraded to windows 7 then this error occured... windows 7 is legit aswell and the disc is commercial aswell
thanks

Greetings.

Sorry you are experiencing problems with your cd/dvd drive.

Are you using 7 Ultimate or Home Premium?

Are you able to read any GAME disc at all since the upgrade?

Based on all that you've stated, I suspect your upgraded Operating System is missing either a directx fix, or an installer fix...or something else.

But first.....,

Since you "upgraded" your operating system from xp/vista to Windows 7, then your pc currently has the CIV IV game installed...this is true only if you migrated your previous applications to the partition of the operating system in your hard-drive. So if that is the case, what you then need to do is remove/uninstall CIV IV.

If you did a clean install for Windows 7 then the game is not on the hard drive. So in this case you need to make one disc (the CIV IV disc) readable....which sounds confusing to me. But we'll work on it.

So did you do a clean install? Or was windows 7 an "upgrade" with application migration??

-.-

I did a clean install because i recieved the computer as a gift because the person i recieved it off was moving out and was using a laptop
