CD in the computer

I have a question about one of the most annoying things about Civ3. Is there any way to play the game without the CD in the computer? It drives me nuts having to switch CDs back and forth all the time. With Civ2, I could play without the CD and it was great.

Does anyone have any utilities or anything like that to play without it?

It's not a piracy issue either...I own the game, it's just annoying.

I know what you mean. I bought the game too but I hate having to keep the CD in the PC (especially since I divide my time between 2 computers). Check out www.gamecopyworld.com and you should be able to find what you need.

By the way, removing the cd check makes the program load about twice as fast on my computer. I think it's pretty shabby that companies deliberately make their products slower for their paying customers (while using a protection that doesn't actually stop piracy anyway ... go figure).

Now that I've gotten the patch, of course the no-cd check thingy that I got doesn't work for the new version. Does anyone know where I can get a no-cd check for the newest version. I keep having to tote the CD with me to the 2 comps I play on...very obnoxious.

There's not a no cd crack for the new version out yet . Give it a few days.

I had that problem too. I uninstalled Civ3 (ack), reinstalled it using the default pathname and reinstalled the patch. Now it works.
