Cd is scratched, what can I do?

Hey guys! As you can see from the title, my Civ 4 cd is scratched. I bought it about a year ago off amazon and it's the regular game plus the Warlords expansion. I haven't played in a few months and about an hour ago got all excited about wanting to play again. I found the disc and was horrified to discovered that it's all scratched! My macbook pro optical drive tries reading it then just spits it out after about a minute, I tried like ten times.

I did a search online and despite there being some "cracks" to get the pc version to play without a disc, I see nothing for mac. One page alluded that if I buy the BtS digital download then I no longer need the cd. Is that true? It's 10 bucks so much cheaper than me buying the full game again. Thanks for any help guys, for the record I legally own the game, I still have the box and could produce my receipt from amazon.com if needed. Thanks a ton!

Once patched to 3.19 bts You no longer need the cd it's true.

Sweet. So just to make 100% sure, there is a way I can just download BtS off steam (or wherever), install it from the downloaded file, then not need to use a disc at any point there? If so, I'm thrilled!

And I looked into getting the full collection, it would have made sense if I had no game but it's 30 bucks to download everything on steam or for 10 bucks I can get BtS. I already have the base game plus warlords so in my position it doesn't seem to make sense? Thanks for the tip though!

i think the Complete (Vanilla+Warlords+BtS) is sometimes on steam at a heavily reduced price.
Might want to check it regularely.

Btw : mentioning piracy solutions is a no go here

Oh not suggesting piracy. Like I said, I own the game, I can prove it in every way imaginable. lol. I'd be happy with a no cd patch or something but if I need to buy BtS off steam I will. Can someone just please confirm my second post? Don't want to pay even MORE money for something and find out I need to CD at any point. Thanks!

Just to make You 100% sure latest version of BtS does not reqiure a cd. No cd check, obtain it asap in any way possible ! (no piracy ya' hear!) asap ! ^^ best wishes !

Awesome sauce, thanks Adam. I'm pretty anti pirating, I own a business that specializes in non physical image distribution so I totally understand companies not wanting their stuff copied. I'd never pirate something as amazing as civilizations! I'll download that off steam once I get all registered, that parts always fun eh?

Sorry no one could come to your rescue before this, in regards to Steam I think you need to purchase the whole lot of games off their site to upgrade to BTS.

It is true that Steam games OFTEN go on sale, but that might be awhile.

Man don't you wish there were websites dedicated to making no CD cracks just for cases like this?

As for what you should do, you should take this with some AOL discs and play frisbee golf. Or the microwave thing, it's always fun.

Grr. I submitted a ticket to steam, we'll see how it goes. It's not available on GoG either.

LOL at digitalcraft I know what you mean by AOL discs. I remember like 12 years ago for some reason I had like 50 of them and glued them to my bedroom door, shiney side out. Good times. I may look into your other suggestion, I am willing to pay for the new game but if I have to rebuy stuff I already own... :\
