I did like 3 or 4 or 5 annual tournaments in a row back in the day when the forum used to be bigger. Wonder if there's any interest now? (lmk)

Best chess spot these days is http://lichess.org . Anyway can create a free account there, all features are free & no ads! I was thinking I could create a live tournament rather than correspondence & leave it open for 24-hours, people get autopaired based on who's active @ the time. Maybe 20min with 10 sec increment time control.

Mods, please leave this in Off-Topic for a few days since no one goes to CFC chess forum anymore. Thanks.

I made an account on lichess.org a while ago. I haven't played any games on that site yet, I've only gone through some of the tutorials and trying the puzzles. I've also played through the Chessmaster 9000 beginner tutorials. I'm not any good at playing chess, I've only won one game but I think that was because my opponent was growing bored. Throughout the game they constantly tried to tell me how each of the pieces moved.

What day of the week would be best for people? Saturday? Sunday?

I like the puzzles on that site, they're all from actual games played on there.

I don't have much of a schedule so any day works. Time-wise: between 10 AM and 4 PM (PST).

I could probably be persuaded. I used to play a lot of chess back in the 2004-2008 timeframe, though always recreationally. Have played a handful or two of games since then, so I'm quite rusty, but it could be fun.

Best times for me are evenings, 6 PM - 10 PM EDT. Or 10 AM onwards on weekends. Have semi-random events, of course, but nothing repeating after next week.

My computer chess experience consists primarily of Chessmaster 4000 Turbo, which hasn't worked reliably on Windows since 98 or ME. But it sure has some cool-looking chess sets.

Last official I played was in 1976. I refused an offer of a draw, my opponent
accused me of not being a "gentleman" and the manager of our team punched him
in the face.
Do you know the Lithuanian Defense?
