Smaller maps make it easier obviously. You ideally want a fairly large landmass to start with some ais on it(duh)
You gather non units from huts.
find an ai city.
wait for at least size 2(depends on defenders present)
take the city
future huts will give advanced and nomads
build settlers to road to ai cities
slow going but it can be done.

if you get lucky you'll get a decent site with the first capture and you can go OCC.

smash

thanks for the tips..whats OCC.

. I've heard it mentioned in other threads but not yet managed to track down the meaning..

Are there any other seemingly mission impozzibles out there??

Never use the Build City function? LOL, now that's something I never though to try!

A couple months ago, when I tried several OCC games, I revisited the classic "4 Whales" (by Sten Sture) map and decided to go for an OCC "Victory by Conquest". I just extended the OCC rules to cover my war-mongering, which meant that I could still never have a 2nd city... so the issue became reducing the cities and killing them (most often as a wall-less size one city) so it would go away as I took it.

BTW, this method went fast at first, but became rather tedious in the end, as my steady stream of Vet. Spies came from Rome, one each turn. Conquest would often be help up until my spy reserves could overcome large AI cities (poisoning their water supplies!).

Finally digested the OCC details... Wow.. lots of things in there that I would never of thought of.Many thanks to Paul Van Den Belt (keep up the good work).

Tried it with small map and it works fine as long as you get to find some ai before their walls come up. Oh and there are fewer cities to capture.

Larger maps are more difficult, paticularly if you concentrate on a conquest, but one advantage is that there are a lot more hutsOne thing I did consider was not to take a city early on until my army was of a sufficient size (at least to intimidate some ai for lots of 'wonga' <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0"> )

What does everyone else think??
