Changing Civ 3 language from English to German

Sorry if this has been posted before - I ran multiple searches on the site and google but I couldn't find anything so I have to ask.

I would like to change my CIV3 from English to German, but no option comes up in-game. Do I have to download a mod? Does anyone know where from?

Help will be greatly appreciated.

I believe to change languages you have to find the German version of the game to get it in German. There's no easy fix to switch languages.

Turner is right, the national versions (French, German and I think there were some others) had been completely separate installations.

However, on the German ebay site you will certainly find a German installation of Civ3. (I bought a replacement disc there a couple of years ago, after my original one got scratches.)
