Changing Goverments if it doesnt ask you?

Can you change government if it doesnt ask you?? I traded for Monarchy and it never asked me to switch....It is killing me because I didnt want to go to Republic but I need to get out of Depotism...someone help!!

go to your domestic advisor, and click on the type of government you have. It will ask you if you want to start a revolution. Agree, and when teh revolution ends it will ask you what governmetn type you want.

If you trade for a government tech, then it doesn't give you the option. You have to either research it or manually start a revolution.

Hmm, even if I trade for a government I get the revolution popup. Is it a preference you can set?

Another random point: If you revolt on the revolution pop up, you get half a turn less of anarchy.
