I am going to sound like a fool cause chances there is a thread that is already in existence for this subject; however I cannot find that thread so here I am.

How do I change the title screen with another title screen (.pcx) file?

Hi Wahsayah,

No, you don't sound like a fool asking that question. :) However, this forum is only for completed graphics modpacks, rather than general questions. It would be preferable to post the question in the main C&C forum, here:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=46

About your question, I'm not sure whether you just want to know what graphic to replace, or also how to place it in the correct format (with no palette problems, etc.). If you wish to know what file to replace, and have a replacement in the correct format, in the "Art" folder of the Conquests folder (assuming you have Conquests, otherwise it's the art folder of the original CivIII or of PTW, whichever is your latest installation), you'll see a file called x_title.pcx. Just backup that file (for example, I renamed mine x_titleORIGINAL, and left it there), and place your replacement title screen pic, called x_title, in the folder. If you have Conquests, there is no point replacing the x_title pic in the original CivIII Art folder, or the one in the PTW Art folder, as the game will use the Conquests one first. Just replace the Conquests one and you'll be fine.

If you just needed to know how to put a picture in the correct format, then please ignore the above, and please re-ask the question in the main C&C forum. I would gladly explain it here for you, but unfortunately I have to get off the computer now, and I won't be back on for a couple of days.

Good luck with replacing the title screen! :)

Here is a great template for making title screens with the same layout as the default one: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=113983

As far as the file itself goes, it should be the same size as your screen resolution (or, more accurately, the resolution that you play the game) and in indexed mode with 256 colors, the last 2 colors of the palette not appearing in the image.

I seen your stuff and it's cool however I'm looking for a title that is a little more "Modern" perhaps? Do you have something that looks like around 1980+?

If you have Civilization Complete, the title screen is named differently. Look in
Civilization Complete/Conquests/Art for a pcx named: civ3complete_TITLE_bkgrnd.pcx

Title screen makers/users should be aware that the civ3complete_TITLE_buttons.pcx
file is also named differently. FYI.

As for where to find title screens, look in the Downloads Database in the Civ 3 - Interface Graphics and Civ 3 - Miscellaneous Graphics categories. There are some good ones there.
