I love the Charlemagne mod. Its great to have a proper, expanded stint of medieval warfare when in the game the period flits by while you're busy building banks / universities what-have-you.
As a passing thought (since some of the more important wars of settlement were fought in this period) I wonder if the designers of Civ 5(!) would think of laying a greater emphasis on this era?
Anyway, back to the point. Brilliant scenario, but soooooo frustratingly easy. On Emperor, I had only to build some cities, defend them, and gift a few hundred gold to the Pope and - Bam - I'd won!
I'd built a mouth-wateringly huge army with my military production city (1 unit per turn with 15 ex-p.) and was just looking forward to getting properly stuck in with the broadsword, mace and pike when...*Phhht*
All very irritating. I know I could have played on but... well... we all remember building vast empires up to 5000ad in Civ2 but without the thrill of competition, after a while, it just all feels a bit empty.
