Charlie Chaplin and "The Great Dictator"

Although it is dated, there is some relevance to today's climate. ANyone who dicusses world events should this film.

As for why the Americans aren't showing it, it's probably true that they're not showing it for a lack of interest down there.

It's sad though, that people would rather go see some cliche piece of rubbish with over done special effects than see a classic film that's actually about something.

Chaplin's film is a brilliant satire, and more than that he was among the first to address the lunacy of dictators at a time when even in the West some were beginning to be mesmerized by them. Great film indeed.

I think the movie isn't shown in the United States because of the political situation down south (or so I heard) and it's a damn shame.

I've seen this film publically many times in both Europe and the U.S.

I'm glad to hear this! I guess Geraldine Chaplin was only refering to this promotional campaign thought.

I agree. It's still a very actual film.

Hitler is known to have been a Chaplin fan. Until that movie.

It is well-known that Hitler stole his look! :D
(before he saw the movie I guess ;) )
