In my most recent game as the Svarts I could not get my illusionists to use charm person successfully. I must have cast the spell dozens of times and each time it was resisted. I was using this against the Calabim. I can't figure out if the Calabim are simply immune to this or if the success rate is just ridiculously low. Anyone else have this problem?

Keep in mind that the 'Spell resisted' message also shows up if you try to Charm a unit that's already Charmed (has the promotion). Also, it works on each unit individually, so chances are the first cast is going to get maybe 60% of the stack, the second 60% of the uncharmed as well as giving you a ton of 'Spell resisted' messages for the already-charmed units, and so on.
Just mouseover the target stack and see if the Charmed promotion (quite easy to spot) is there to see if you need to try again.

I didn't check to see if their units were charmed already, but if they were, it wasn't by me. When I said I cast charm person dozens of times, it wasn't an exaggeration, and the spell was resisted every...single...time. I didn't charm one single unit the entire game; against stacks of units. And this was with level 5 and 6 illusionists (don't know if that matters).

Oh and I don't think Charm Person has a message popup when it is successful, not sure if that has anythign to do with it.

Could be possible, since the Calabim start with law mana, that their adepts have been spamming loyalty on all their units? I play as the Calabim all the time, and Loyalty is an important spell that I use on all my living troops.

I also quite often see that its called out that the spell whould be resisted when it doesn't. Just check the Unit itself. Don't go by the popup. The same goes for Entangle or Blinding light.
It's a bit misleading because it checks for effect every time. Regardless of the Unit allready beeing effected. When you charm stacks with 50+ Units a handful allways resist, so you allways get the popup.

If you don't see a the 'Spell Resisted' message, it's prolly a bug and you should report it in the Download/Bugs Thread.

Sorry had a typo. Meant effected. Corrected now. Sorry for the confusion. I meant it will nearly always come up even if all units in a Stack are sucessfully effected after several casts...
The feature is working as designed. But it just makes sense if you try to charm 1-3 units. Otherwise you can expect to see that popup.

Well, I reloaded the game from an earlier point before I went to war with the Calabim and instead attacked the Khazad. I used Charm person multiple times and ran into the same problem. I cast charm person against several stacks and didn't sucessfully charm a single unit.
