OK well, I'm getting into modding Civ4.

I just came out of 7 years playing Asheron's Call and spending more time modding that game (writing macros) than actually playing in the last couple years. So I'm not new to all of this, just learning the game-specific stuff. Learning can be fun!

Here's an Excel file with some misc. playing aids I use, and also a list of units for the mod I'm working on.

It will include the most excellent Dale's Combat Mod, seZeger's regiments idea (scaled back a bit), and a bunch of unit changes - some tweaked, some new, some deleted. I'll mix in a bunch of the really neat unit art that is circulating now and try to put together a simple and stable mod pack.

Nothing to set the world on fire, just a few minor changes. Specifically I want the player to get the 'feel' of each time period. The units provide 99% of the 'flavor' as you play through the ages in my opinion.

Any comments, good or bad, are welcome.

I have to say, I like it. I think its pretty balanced.

I actually expirimented with a "Medieval Infantry" Unit which had 5 different varieties. Axe, 2-Hand Sword, Sword + Shield, Mace, & Hammer.
I gave them 'circular' bonuses for example.

Hammer +50% vs Sword+Shield, +25% vs 2-Hand Sword
Sword+Shield +50% vs 2 Hand Sword, +25% vs Mace
2 Hand Sword +50% vs Mace, + 25% vs Axe
Mace +50% vs Axe +25% vs Hammer
Axe +50% vs Hammer +25% vs Sword+Shield

there really wasnt a basis to why who was strong vs who. it was more to have pariety.

the results were mixed. The AI seemed to "know" how to use them. They would ofted Mix the an army with 1 of each or 2 of 3 different kinds. which is what I wanted them to do.

I took the system out because I felt it needed some work. I also feel like gunpowder/chemistry comes along to quickly and makes it all obsolete. So eventually I want to add some more Techs and prolong the Medieval warfare.

I feel that the Medieval period is well represented time-wise when playing Marathon/Huge (that's all I play so maybe I'm a bit biased).

I'm agonizing over whether to call Medieval foot 'Men At Arms', or 'Foot Soldier'...I'll need to dig a bit, maybe a better name is out there.

If I end up naming them 'Men At Arms' I'll want to change my sailing era capitol ship from 'Man O' War' to 'Ship of the Line' or even something else to avoid duplicity.

Thanks for the feedback!
