So i played Civ1 20+ years ago and went back for nostalgia.
This game is really addictive as you all know. But i have ragequitted several times as the AI cheats!
I rarely to never attack enemy unit's on hills and mountains.
Difficulty is on "Prince"

So my last game i typed down some happenings:

My catapult vs enemy catapult. I attack i lose.
Chavalry vs 3 of my armor = I attack i lose
Chavalry attack 2 armor defending city = I lose
Chavalry attack city = Kills my [F] tank [F] soldier, and battleship
Chavalry attack city = Kills 2 [F] soldiers and defends against an attacking armor
I use 10 battleships to attack a city with walls and cannot kill one single [F] rifleman
10+ Armor cannot take one single [F] soldier defending a walled city
Enemy uses cannons against my 3 [F] Soldiers in a Walled city and take it

Is there something i am doing wrong as my units are slaughtered left and right!?

As far as I know the AI doesn't cheat in combat, but it sometimes seems to know if it's going to win an improbable attack and decides accordingly. For example, AI cruisers will usually avoid attacking my battleships, but when they do decide to strike they will usually win, even though odds are 2:1 against them. So the AI appears to have some mechanism of knowing its odds in combat and it also appears to have some precognition of how a combat round will end. If it cheats it doesn''t do it by skewing the results of the battle but by knowing them.

Its when a Diplomat knocks out your Nuclear you've got to worry...

Or was that Slim Pickens?!
