Flatlander Fox
Armed Cultural Consultant
This is posted in Multiplayer, but it is becoming quite a story, so I feel that it should be posted here... Plus I am searching for more players who want a challenge to take one of the smaller civs, and lead them to greatness!!!
The World as we know it, around 700A.D. (I think, no save game in front of me and I am at work!!!):
North America: Inhabited almost entirely by the world's most powerful Civ, the mighty Souix (Played by Teddyking).
South America: Inhabited by the second (or maybe third) place civ, the Aztecs (played by Chiani)
Europe: Inhabited by nobody!!! But the Japanese are close by (around Russia). I believe it is ripe for colonization, but fear that the price will be pretty high (as everybody starts sending settlers there)
Asia: Inhabited by the Japanese (who have had two Human owners so far, but belong to noone at the moment). They are near the Russian starting point. Also inhabited by the Persians (two Human owners, noone playing them right now) who are very near to real world India. The Greeks are also on the continent (one human owner, noone playing them now) and they are near real world China.
Afrika (As I like to spell it): Inhabited by the second place (or third maybe?) Germans (played by Flatlander Fox)
The Celts (one human owner) are also out there somewhere (I guess Australia).
The players:
Souix: Miles ahead of the Competition. The most powerful and advanced country on the planet. Many Wonders have been built by the Souix, most noteworthy include J.S. Bach's and Magellens. Also built the Pyramids, and Hanging Gardens. Production power is second to none. Not really isolationist, but had no aggressive behavior until recently provoked by the Aztecs... Perhaps already colonizing Europe!!!
Aztecs: The second Civ, very technologically advanced, maybe even with the Souix. A defensive civilization, now in armed conflict with the Souix over an attempt to sabotage production of a wonder. Allied with the Germans. Contemplating their next move, conquest or colonization???
Built the Great Library.
Germans: Started very slow, but its picking up a bit for the hapless Germans. Only noteworthy wonder was building Mikes Chapel, and that was pretty tough to do. I am trying to stay free of the War in America, but was recently attacked by the EVIL Japanese. I cover all of the continent of Afrika, and spread into Babylon a little bit. Too slow a going for me to colonize just yet, but look toward the dark forests of Europe with a bit of fear. A Souix ship was spotted in the Mediterranean a turn before we stopped playing for the night.
I am at peace with both human civs and have stated my plans to do so for as long as I can.
The AI's (Or the Civs that YOU could control!!!)
Japanese: They were played quite ably by two separate human players (One had to leave, and the other quit). But now they suffer from dumb AI syndrome and have attacked the Germans. They have the best chance to expand into the lush grounds of Europe, but the AI isn't doing so. I beleive that with patience, the Japanese could be very dangerous in the late game.
Celts: Played well by one human player before, little is know about the secretive Celts. They did manage to build the Colossus, and are not doing too terribly, but suffer from the AI's mismanagement. The Celts I believe are in the Southern Pacific somewhere (Australia??) and with a strong naval force could be very fun to play.
Greeks: Only one Human has played the Greeks, and that was not for very long. They suffer from the typical AI problems, but are also a bit boxed in. They have an excellent corridor to the Pacific though, and have a rather large, but simple, army. The Greeks could be fun to play, but would be a challenge also...
Persians: One Human has played the Persians, but not for very long, and now the Persian empire is in a steep decline. They are pretty weak militarily, but have good terrain if someone is willing to rebuild them. In other words, not the Civ to choose if you decide to join this game!!!
In short, JOIN THIS GAME!!! There are great oppotunities to be a Kingmaker or Conqueror in your own right. But I warn you, the game is very far progressed. You will NOT be the World's most powerful Civ if you join, but in this Age before Gunpowder, you may be able to forge your own empire in Europe or Asia and challenge the bigger Civs in the End-Game. You will definitely have the bigger Civs attentions for sure, as the Souix may be in need of an ally, or the Aztecs and Germans in need of a partner in their quest to stay afloat.
We are playing again on 10 July 2001. We will meet on ICQ at 2000 GMT +1. Or in eastern time in the U.S. 1400.
Reply if interested in one of the available Civs. First come first serve!!!
