Was he expecting cheers? The VP is not exactly one of the most popular people in the US...if they had had rotting fruit, they might have thrown that too. ;)

I don't care if he's Dick Cheney, it's still rude and disrespectful to boo anybody like that. I can understand booing a player, but booing somebody you need to respect (even if he's a total Dick) is wrong.

It is disgusting to boo any vice-President or President. Respect the position even if you don't respect the person.

Why should we not boo the vice president? They're a public official and they aren't above scrutiny.

This makes me think. This is one of the insular administrations in history. Cheney and Bush(up to very recently) only meet with hand picked crowds, they hold press comferences less that any other admin in my memory, and they take more vacations than Reagan even. I wonder what Cheney did expect, and if anyone warned him that there might be boos. Next up, does he have the grace to care?

But do they fall asleep during as many Cabinet meetings?

At least he didn't tell the crowd what they could all do...

 like Scalia?

No like cheney, when he said on the floor of the senate to senator Leahy "go FVCK yourself"

Now, that, my friends, is class.

If I ever saw Cheney I'd boo. If I ever saw Bush, I'd Boo. If Cheney tried to shake my hand, I'd spit in his face. If Bush treid to shake my hand, I'd turn my back. I dislike Bush slightly less because he is just a stooge-puppet of Cheneys.

I was thinking that Cheney said it to just one person (in front of others to be sure) while Scalia flipped off the whole crowd of reporters.

Don't see much wrong with booing him, nor a lot of point in doing so either. The more interesting point is whether Fox were deliberately trying to spin (or even prevent) the story by muffling the crowd noise. It wouldn't surprise me if they were, but then I have a very low opinion of that network.

Often crowd noise is turned down during sportscasts except when it seems appropriate like after a big play. You can't control what people will shout or chant, sometimes it is things the FCC doesn't want the kids to hear.

Both "sides" of the media have done it for their candidate.

There's been cases where leading democratic figures have been boo-ed and the like and the more liberal media organizations have tried to make the boos less obvious when broadcasting it after the fact.
Ok... so you're going to take something that's false (FOX covering up boo's due to party affiliation), and then you have to drag Democrats into this and demonize them? What a typical slandering method. Dear god, man! Is this the last line of defense for concerned conservatives? Becuase it's downright stupid.

Dude, he stole your money (and your kid's money) to make his friends rich. It's okay to boo people you deem to be corrupt crooks.

What? How did he steal your money, and how did he steal your kids' money (if you have kids). Considering our economy has been on the rise and unemployment is down, I would think you would have more money. Or am I wrong?

Undispuated contracts to Halliburton, tripling the national debt, hiring piss-poor contractors to do work in Iraq, etc. etc.

Not that I think this is a good thing, but Clinton did the same thing.

You'd be hard pressed to find a president that didn't.

Very true. And when Halliburton's the only firm that will do the job, it makes it a bit tougher to condemn Cheney for following precedent, even if he was the big man on Halliburton's campus.

I'm NOT demonizing democrats, all I'm saying is this whole thing is wrong.

Boo-ing is rude, whether you're boo-ing because you don't like a person or because you don't like a referee's call.

The primary "Democratic" boo'ing/censoring that came to my mind was the example of John Kerry's Daughters at the MTV Awards. The re-airing of the program tried to null out the boo'ing.

Now, before you flame me for not reading my own article, Kerry's daughters were not the only ones infront of the audiance at the time of the boo-ing. The Bush daughters also appeared in a pre-recorded video. Both sides sets of daughters were booed.

However, further research I could NOT find any source saying that when they re-aired it they silenced the boos. I also could not find any other example which supported my statement. So I jumped the gun and I'm sorry, I remembered hearing a few years ago about the MTV incident, and that MTV tried to hide it, but I was wrong.

But honestly, after reading more of the thread and thinking about it more, in general lowering the volume of the audience is fairly normal especially for sporting events. In particular the Basketball games at my University can have some chants that are pretty inappropriate chants, not to mention often boos the opposition. So the volume thing really shouldn't be that big a deal.

However, again, booing someone at any event is rude and immature (yes my fellow students have a tendancy to be rude and immature at the basketball games). Whether it's Kerry or Clinton getting booed or Cheney or Bush getting booed.

And I'm not saying you're not allowed to criticize leader's actions, just do it in a mature and conciderate way.

FYI: I'm not a big fan of Bush anymore, after the whole FEMA fiasco, he hasn't really had my support.

And again I apologize for jumping the gun with my earlier statement, without double checking it's validity before posting.

Of course he is not above scrutiny; it is important we question our leaders. However, the position of vice-President deserves respect, which in my opinion includes not boo-ing, even if you think the person himself is below contempt. I think it is important to be allowed to boo, that is part of freedom, but it is tactless to do so.

This is bull. The guy is in public office. If you don't want to be booed, don't be a Dick.
As usual, a lame joke comparing him to the slang term for male genitalia. Did you just come up with that now?
