First I called Gamestop, the guy said (with no hesitation, he's been asked it a lot I bet): "It's not in here now." I had to ask when it would come, he sounded friendly when he answered but seemed irritated when I asked about Civ IV "Hopefully...tomorrow".

Then I called EB Games "Sorry, no, it's not in today. But tomorrow, definetely tomorrow."

Then I called Best Buy, their computer was running slow so it took him awhile, and he didn't seem to have gotten many requests for it. "It isn't in yet, so call back in the afternoon tomorrow. We'll be stocking it then, and we can hold a copy for you."

So, Chicagoans, Gamestop probably will only hand over the pre-ordered games on the 26th and not really start selling them until the 27th. EB Games might not get them in until after 5:00, just because everyone who called EB Games says the people who work there told them to call back at five. Looks like the safest bet is Best Buy, as they will receive their deliveries early and stock them right away, and are willing to hold a copy for you without having some pre-ordering thing (which it is already too late for, I am pretty sure).

So another freggin' day. [pissed]

hey...at least yer team is up 2-0 in the world series...could be worse right? well hopefully tonight it does ;)

Most PC games don't get sold out via pre-order. If you go tomorrow to your local game shop after the morning shipment, chances are they will have it.

How did you know I'm a Sox fan? I live on the Northside though. Anyway, I don't follow baseball closely, it is so damn boring to watch. I like football, and I'm a Packer fan on top of it.

By the way, I'd like to express my anger at it not being a 24th release date again. [pissed]

Hmm, American Sandlo, beat my post by 10 seconds? ;)

Well, thank you for reassuring me. I just need to calm down. At least Tuesday night I have shows I watch, Wednesday is worthless to me.

Just...one...more...day...

I don't understand. You live in the fourth or fifth largest metro area in the United States and weren't even sure if you had a local gameshop. PC games DON'T SELL OUT. If you don't have a pre-order, simply go to EB tomrrow at 11 and chances are really good they will have it. If they don't have it, simply go to another one. If they don't have it, simply go to a local gaming store, like a mom and pop shop. Seeing as you are in freaking CHICAGO, and the game will be in gameshops tomorrow across the US, you SHOULD FIND IT.

It isn't like all the stores are next to each other. It could take all day to walk to all the stores on the North side.

I thought amazon would get to us on time, but unless I cancel my order, i looks like its not coming to me 'til Halloween...

This is the 2nd city! if they have it in NY we should have it here:lol:

Its actually the third largest.

Vehicles.

Public transportation.

Outside the loop, Chicagoans normaly don't brag about their stellar subway system, and cabs aren't exactly cheep.
but it might be worth pillaging every electronics store in the midwest to find a copy of Civ IV:crazyeye:

No where to park=no car

Already planning on taking public transportation, that can take all day too if you have to travel all around.

Have you ever had the pleasure of trying to go to 10 different places that are all over the city on CTA?

Don't worry, it is harder to just go to every store than you seem to think it is, but we will get the game in the next 24 hours:goodjob:

Well what I'm saying is that I know that if I were in your predicament (I happen to live in a small city in Western New York, so I shall stroll into EB at 10 and pick up an un preordered copy happily and easily :)), the first place I would go is one of your megamalls. Buffalo has a mall that has two floors and three game stores, so surely Chicago has a mall similar, and surely if all 50 copies that, that giant structure has are all pre-ordered, there is another mall an hour away...

Last I recall Houston passed you population wise and Philly was creeping up both in population and economy.
Philly, maybe in 1790.
Philledelphia really isn't that big anymore, I think its 5 or 6. Lovely city, though, same w/ Houston.

Wikipedia entry: Chicago, ...is the third-largest city in population in the United States, following New York City and Los Angeles, California, and the largest inland city in the country.
Houston is the largest city within the state of Texas, fourth in the United States

Darn. If I had thought about it I would have gone to see my mom tonight. she is out in Rolling Meadows. At least then I would have a car and be close to Woodfield and Streets of Woodfield. Oh well.

Are there any "malls" in the city? The only thing I can think of is Water Tower place.

off topic but thanks guys you reminded me why it is so great living in a smaller city like Syracuse NY.
