Chicagoans, give up hope

I am going to cry. I have called everywhere and no one will have it till tomorrow.

BTW I am a Cubs fan, but none-the-less GO SOX!

no game stores in there...
Copm USA might have it. They're right off of Michigan Ave. by water tower park (near ralph lauren, but further down the street)

I don't think I have been there since I was a kid on my 6th grade trip here. But it was the only "mall" I could think of in the city. It was suggested that we go to the mall so we can go to multiple stores in one place. Sorry, will retract the claws now...

I tried calling CompUSA and it they said Thursday or Friday.

Last I recall Houston passed you population wise and Philly was creeping up both in population and economy.

Houston's still more than 800,000 people away from overtaking Chicago population wise.

take it to the metro area and Chicago's pretty solid at third.

and we Chicagoans LOVE our city!!

Well, I just called back the Best Buy that said I could have it tonight. This time I talked to a guy that actually looked up their release date, 10/27, and said that they didn't have it. So, I told him that I talked to _____ 2 hours ago that said that it was in the shipment and I could come in and get it in a couple of hours. Now _____ is on break:rolleyes: Now, I am waiting for them to call me back. I am hoping that since one person said I could have it that they will let me have it if they actually have it in.

My local Gamestop (in the burbs) said it would be here tomorrow approx 2pm. If they have it in the burbs by 2pm, it should be in the city waaaayy before.

The Gamestop I went to in St. Louis said they'll have it tomorrow, possibly in the moring. So Chicago will def have it. :)

Okay, so maybe I hadn't given up yet. Called back Best Buy and talked to the 3rd person today after person number 2 didnt call me back. The first told me I could get it tonight, the second said he would ask the first and call me back and the third said that I could get it tomorrow morning. I should have just gone over there and raised hell until they gave it to me after this run around.

Anyway, happy gaming tomorrow! Now it is time to finally EAT!

Yeah, tomorrow sounds like the day. I called the nearest gamestop and the lady working there sounded like I wasn't the first one to call and ask. They're getting in something called Civ IV tomorrow, but they don't know if its regular or prerelease.

Wow, all this off-topic talk about Chicago.

Anyway, I didn't know of any Gamestops in the city because I do spend a lot of time in the suburbs, and either get whatever games I want from Circuit City or a Gamestop (downtown, or at least near where I live, has no acceptable shopping except for food). I'm only familiar with a Best Buy close enough by. Okay? Everyone satisfied? And yes, Water Tower Place is a total tourist trap. It does not qualify as a mall, all it has is some clothes store, a candy shop (delicious Frangos!), some crappy mini-restraunts upstairs, a well-known name, and a total lack of electronics stores!

I can't get the game in the afternoon, I have to wait until about 5:00 or 6:00 P.M. But I shall get it, from Best Buy. I believe! I believe! Now I shall remain depressed for the rest of tonight and tomorrow day.

Dammit, I really want Civ IV! I can't stop thinking about it. You know, Conquests came out ON THE ACTUAL RELEASE DATE. I remember it being delayed about a week, but that was weeks before the release. It wasn't delayed one day for shipping purposes or whatever and then on the "official" "release" date get delayed again for more "shipping". For the first expansion pack, I would like the damn game to come out on the release date.

And Dirty Jobs on Discovery Channel, and the Amazing Race on CBS. The latter sucks this year, but the show first one is great. Baseball is unbearably boring to watch. Unlike football, that is an enthralling game.

Hello Chicago people. Been trolling these forums for years, but finally registered to say hi to the chicago people. Yes its true, I am much more excited about civ 4 then the White Sox.

First I called Gamestop, the guy said (with no hesitation, he's been asked it a lot I bet): "It's not in here now." I had to ask when it would come, he sounded friendly when he answered but seemed irritated when I asked about Civ IV "Hopefully...tomorrow".

So another freggin' day. [pissed]

Hollerback. I went to the Best Buy and Gamestop near Clark/Diversey, and I was so confused it wasn't out. Then the Gamestop people told me that people had been calling "like crazy" for Civ4 today, and that I should reserve a copy for pick-up tomorrow.

I did. Woot woot.

Perhaps you were one of those callers, fellow Chicagoan? ;P

EDIT: Misty... I'm originally from Lansing, Michigan. Small world, neh?

I don't understand. You live in the fourth or fifth largest metro area in the United States and weren't even sure if you had a local gameshop. PC games DON'T SELL OUT. If you don't have a pre-order, simply go to EB tomrrow at 11 and chances are really good they will have it. If they don't have it, simply go to another one. If they don't have it, simply go to a local gaming store, like a mom and pop shop. Seeing as you are in freaking CHICAGO, and the game will be in gameshops tomorrow across the US, you SHOULD FIND IT.

Uh, buddy... it's not like everyone in Chicago has a car. The only places I know of to go for these games are the Game Stop/Best Buy at Clark/Diversey or the Best Buy near North/Clybourn.

That's about it. CTA isn't some magical GameStop tour service. :P

And there are really no malls in central-northside Chicago. There just isn't the space. You can always catch the Yellow line and Skokie 97 to Old Orchard, but that's really out of the way to get to an EB and Best Buy. ;P

Darn. If I had thought about it I would have gone to see my mom tonight. she is out in Rolling Meadows. At least then I would have a car and be close to Woodfield and Streets of Woodfield. Oh well.

Oh my God, does that bring back memories. I grew up in Elk Grove Village, basically next door to Rolling Meadows. Many fond memories of Woodfield. Except around Christmas time.

To the OP: You live in Chicago, but you're a Packers fan? Such a thing cannot be. It's like a Yankees fan here in Boston.
