Chichen Itza on Immortal

Is it possible to get Chichen Itza when playing Immortal? I've been playing as Brazil on Immortal and have getting this wonder as one of my priorities. Every game I play, it gets built and usually before I can research the tech for it even when I beeline for it. It's been frustrating...

Most civs have Civil Service early on their tech path and love this wonder, so no, not really. Just put it on your warpath.

Forget it. AI gets to civil service by turn 80 usually, so there's almost no chance you will ever get CS before them AND get it built, even if you have completed liberty and have a GE to rush.

It's been a waste of time trying it since BNW.

I find it funny how it's always possible to get it as Maya, even when going for Theology first and only then Civil Service - though even then, the GE is probably better off saved for another wonder (such as Notre Dame, which can also be nigh impossible to snatch).

I really like Notre Dame (and Chichen Itza), tend to warmonger a lot so the extra happiness would be great. It used to be fairly easy to get, but some previous patch seems to have changed the AI's wonder priorities. Not sure if it was G&K or BNW, but now I don't even bother trying for either they are usually gone before I even get the tech, on Emperor level anyway.

Notre Dame got impossible to get after BNW. I could get it fairly often in G&K, but I have only gotten it once since BNW and that was in a game as Egypt where I was able to build it in ten turns. I think luck helped me too since no one else was building it right away.

You can sometimes get it on immortal if you beeline for it and you have a good start. However, it means you're delaying philosophy and the national college, which could hurt you in the long run.

I've never gotten it on deity though. On deity my first wonder is usually pisa (or sometimes the sistine chapel) and occasionally the oracle or one of the theology wonders.

Once I got petra on deity when i beelined for it and got a very OP start (when Spain is OP, Spain is OP).

On Immortal? I play on Prince, and even with good teching I find it hard to get.

Hmmm I tried exactly the same thing on immortal recently. Brazil's jungle bias doesn't help I had to reload the map until I got a more favourable start. But even then its near impossible.
I tried tradition and missed it by several turns. Tried liberty for either a free academy or engineer rush and missed it still. At this I thought the only remaining option was a Great Library rush. I managed to discover writing from a ruin and that did it. GL provides a strong tech boost that might just be enough to get you to Civil Service early. I would say if you can get GL you have a chance, otherwise I wouldn't bother.
