Choppy game play

I've had BTS since the day it came out and have been playing along without any difficulties. I use BUG and Buffy currently and have been since Buffy came out. I noticed last night for the first time that my screen & mouse movement was choppy. I updated my NVidia display driver but still the same thing after 5-10 minutes of play. Any suggestions to try and cure this? I basically use the pc to pay bills and play CIV (not in that order either )

Yes, I tried it several times and still get choppy play.

is there still some space on the hard drive?
is anything else running in the background?

I think I figured it out. I remembered that there was a Windows update about 2 days ago so I restored to the day before that and was able to play without the choppiness. Its weird because I can't quite recall what the update was but I do remember it mentioning something about a correction for daylight savings time. I don't see how that would affect CIV but currently I'm happy to be able to play normally. Thanks for the help.
