Cirumnavigation bonus without a ship?

I went back to watch that link today and then started looking into Memri TV..... There's some interesting stuff, and I did originally post a link to a debate about liberalism and islam. But thinking about it....it's not just off topic. It doesn't need to be said.....

Cant delete entire post so please ignore :)

You can ask any question with a single answer, and no matter how obvious the answer is, you will never find unanimity. That's why politics is so incredibly difficult. There are two kinds of people; people who are wrong, and people who are right for the wrong reasons.

In the words of Shaka Zulu (erm, from the movie that is..) "That's why tyrants are necessary, Baba."

I'd be interested to know if there are any of these flat earth theorists who don't get their ideas from a religious text or religion in general. As far as I'm concerned, that's just another reason to move in to Grigori lands. On a more humorous note, I once dated a girl who believed the BS about the moon landing being a hoax, which is another silly theory of the Flat Earth Society.

To answer the OP though, it's definitely a BTS thing that also exists in FFH. Whoever can trade maps very early can and often will circumnavigate the globe without any seafaring ships. I like to think of the bonus you get as having the best charts in the world. Back in the days of exploration, charts from rival nations ships were incredibly valuable if they could be captured, and skilled navigators or the lack thereof would make or break a ship at times. In that context, it sort of makes sense even if you didn't actually sail the waters yourself.

My favorite Flat Earth spinoff was the Dateline Dig Project. They weren't so naive as to believe the Earth was flat... but they did believe that the Earth was meant to be flat. Their plan revolved around splitting the Earth down the International Date Line and prying it back into its natural, flat form.

I think they might have been joking. At least, I hope so...

I've had the opposite experience. I was playing a continents game with 4 continents one in each quadrant. I sailed completely across the northern half. No message. I traded maps with the AI. No message. Three turns later a guy who never built a ship got proved the world is round.

This is unpatched mp. Going to check with patch j if i can play a long enough mp game
