Citizen Discussion - Interim Rules

If the New Leaders of the next game want to abandon the Constitution of this game, it will only take a poll the first week. But the citizens should have the stability in their new environment that everyone had at the begining of this game. The Constitution for this game was basically drawn up by Duck before the game started. It enabled us to follow some kind of strucutre.

Well, actually Cyc, if we go into the game with the constitution in force then we must follow the procedures for changing it. A imple poll in the first week will not do. Also, since we now have a Senate which must also ratify any constitutional changes we will have a very powerful first governor since he or she will have virtual veto power over any constitutional changes.

We are much better off starting from a clean slate. This will still allow us to re-adopt the current constitution if we so desire.

Cyc does have a point: in all likiness during the first week, we won't have three cities, meaning we can't appoint the first governor.

The current concensus is to keep the current Constituion, Laws, and Standards. A change to the constitution shouldn't be simple. If any measures to change it are shot down at the beginning of the game, the new people don't want to change it.
Anyway, only the 'retirees' would be up to writing the new laws.:D
