Philly,
I restarted a game. Songhai, Deity, Pangea. Where do you work second citizen: 2P2G, 3F, or 2F1P. I'm thinking 2F1P>3F, because production is extremely important, and I'm planning on getting ManCavs before settlers, so don't need to burst out food now. I thought 2P2G (the gold) would be even better, for similar reasons. Your opinions are welcomed:

Edit: As Songhai, Pangea, will almost certainly go Authority.

If you are going tradition you really want to want to work high food tiles to get to 4 pop before the first policy.

Otherwise I'd still probably work the higher food titles first anyway because the first few pops have very low food costs, you are going from 28 turns to 7 turns here. You could just move your 3rd pop onto the gold and your second onto a forest after it grew to 3 pop and end up with the same production within 14 turns and more after that. So I don't think working the gold makes any sense at all. So I'd just work 3f and then all forests before he gold, you just aren't gaining production except in the super short term.

Working the 3f will get your citizen in this case about 2 turns faster, that's 2 turns of not just working a forest but also of getting 0.33 sci for being a citizen. The citizen also eats 2fpt. That's about 0f 2p 0.67s more in 2nd order yields. Compare to finishing the moment faster by maybe 1 turn, that's 2c in 2nd order yields. Usually because of math like this if you're growing fast enough that you'll be at a new pop level within 10 or so turns in standard and you can support the happy and have a tile ready to go it makes sense to go full bore into food.to speed it up.

(Edited out eating tax)

Turns out the difference isn't so huge at all, though a lot of that is due to Monuments being the most efficient buildings.

Citizens do not produce science. It was changed five years ago.

I generally always prioritize growth until pop 4, then it depends on needs
