I hate when this happens, you have a pretty big city and you have a cathederal and a collisieum and a temple and a marketplace with a good amount of luxuiries, but there vare always a problem with my people complaining about that the city is too crowded! What the hell is that supposed to mean? how do I stop them from being angry with out some cockamanie wonder (I actually have all the wonders in my current Warlord game) so how do I get rid of crowding unhappyness?

And where do you put the settlers when there is nothing left to explore or settle by the time you get to caravans?? All you will do is overcrowd someplace else.

And then your city has a lower population which affects your shield production...I think...what IS having a high population good for anyways?

Do you use the lux slider into the domestic adviser screen ? If you are a republic or democraty it is always good to put a 10 %, in war time i go up to 30 % sometime.

All hail Hippo!!!!

Just mine EVERYTHING there is and don't let the cities grow big.

Hmm... a bit evil, but I'll consider it, I normally keep my luxuiries around ten, somwtimers 20 if I'm really rich, I just got a size eight city In my current game (Babylon) there's already people complaining about the crowding!

luxeries are my remedy for big cities, buy, trade, and steal them
Portuguese: you can mine normal plains but I dno't think you can mine flood plains...

Try not to worry about it so much. They don't actually hurt anything. Actually, they help. Each citizen counts as score and more points to the population domination limit. Or, maybe they give you money as tax collectors. Or, they can push your town up to a city or from a city to a metropolis and you get the bonus gold per turn and possibly more unit support.

To actually keep them the happiest, try to get or trade for the most luxuries as possible and build marketplaces. Or use the luxury slider.

I mean CARAVELS, obviously.

Do I miss caravans and frieght and spies in Civ 2. It was fun sneaking them around a continent by sea and hoping you didn't run into an enemy cruiser. Those wre the days!

Its just a generalised factor, so please, get over it.

Actually city living (and the "crowding" it implies) is a valid problem that causes all sorts of social issues and unhappiness. The top-selling Topic in Sociology (according to my Prof. anyway) is indeed the issue of Loneliness in an urban environment, go figure. ^_^
