Epimethus, I salute you. Green was indeed the "mandatory" city in the Alternate Proposal that I mentioned but didn't get around to actually placing.
The main problems I had with that were:
A: It kind of forces us to have Temple as its first project to protect Horses, as well as 2 Garrissons of Wariors to block the Western Coast, and B: it kind of neuters what I had in mind for a Sector 7 Location (on the River plains right by the Cattle.)
Info that I had of that location:
City Tile: 2/1/2 (Developed = 2,1,3?) Now this one is the one I am not entirely sure on, except for the food.
Pre-Temple:
2 River Hills:
Each one: Orginial: 1/1/1, Developed: 1/2/2, Post-Despotism: 1/3/2
Total: 4/3/4, 4/5/7, 4/7/7
Post-Temple:
Under Despotism:
1 Plains Wheat on River (2/1/1, 3/1/2)
2 Forests on River (1/2/1, 1/2/2)
1 Hill with either River or Horses (1/1/1, 1/2/2)
Total: 6/6/5 (Size 3 Undeveloped), 8/8/11? (Size 4 Developed, Gold is unsure)
Post-Despotism:
1 Plains Wheat on River (3/1/1, 4/1/2)
2 Lumbered Plains (1/1/1, 2/1/2; Requires chopping down trees)
4 Hills with River (1/1/1, 1/3/2)
Total: 8/5/6 Size 4 Undeveloped, 14/16/17 Developed Maximum of Size 7
This City will face a minor-level of Corruption, being probably "Ring 2.5"
To D. Zoi: The beauty of my Sector 3 Location is that all we'll need to do is connect the city to Furuyama's Gems No irrigation necessary, and Temple only if we really need it. Just have 1 guy be on a FPW and 2 more working in the Forests. Have Governor of Sector 3 Micro for Production after Pop Point 2 pops, but make sure that with each new Settler the 1st Guy returns to the Wheat.
As a bonus in my opinion, We could build another city in the red circle downstream of the site. My preference for that expansion city is where the dot is located. But I'm getting ahead of myself again.
Modified Rubric for Productive Tiles:
City Tile: 2?/1/2, 2?/1/3?
Pre-Temple:
2 Floodplains Wheat: 4/0/1, 5/0/2, 6/0/2
2 Grassland Forests: 1/2/0, 1/2/1, 1/2/1
1 Regular Floodplains: 2/0/1, 3/0/2, 4/0/2
3 Deserts: 0/1/0, 0/2/1, 0/2/1. (With all the FPWs nearby, I think we can afford to mine these Deserts, but if you think otherwise, improvements make each 1/1/1.)
Pre-Temple, this City could be Size 7 Unimproved, Size 8 improved, and Size 10 outside of Despotism.
Post-Temple:
3 Floodplains Wheat: 4/0/1, 5/0/2, 6/0/2
2 Grassland Forests: 1/2/0, 1/2/1, 1/2/1
2 River Hills: 1/1/1, 1/2/2, 1/3/2
1 Rocky Grassland: 2/1/0, 2/2/1, 2/2/1
3 Regular Floodplains: 2/0/1, 3/0/2, 4/0/2
2 Regular Grasslands: 2/0/0, 2/1/1, 2/1/1
5 Deserts: 0/1/0, 0/2/1, 0/2/1. (With all the FPWs nearby, I think we can afford to mine these Deserts, but if you think otherwise, improvements make each 1/1/1.)
NOTE: This analysis does not include tiles within the effective radius of Fanatikku
Once we get that Third FPW and that Rocky Grass in range, this city could support 12 citizens
without a single turn devoted to irrigation. Even in Despotism.
That third FPW is the chief reason why I made my preference. The fact that we can get production without having to mine ices the cake there.
Actually, Epi's Yellow city accomplishes most of what mine does, (including the 3 FPW and the Forests) plus it also adds a Cattle on grass, making it a possible manufacturing Powerhouse. It also allows for a good Sector 4 city at the Western Edge of the Lake next to the Rocky Grassland and the Hill. (And moves my "East 3" city SW 1 tile to the other side of the lake. I don't want to waste that Rocky Grassland

) The chief problem I have with it is that it infringes on his choice of a Sector 1 City (Purple). However, if we shift Purple 1 or 2 tiles to the NE, we still have all the benefits, as well as a backup Horse, i.e. the one guarded by the Barbs. Picture of the location is attached.
Other problems include only 1 FPW in the initial City Radius. Then again, 1 FPW, 2 Forests, and the Happiness to keep them working were all I said I needed for the Settler Factory.
My Alternate to Sector 1, should Epi's Sector 3 carry:
City Site: 2/1/2?, 2/1/3?
Pre-Temple:
1 Plains Wines (R): 2/1/2, 2/2/2, 2/2/3 (if I remember my Wines correctly.)
3 Plains on River: 1/1/1, 2/1/2, 2/1/2
2 River Hills: 1/1/1, 1/2/2, 1/3/2
Post-Temple:
1 Plains Wines (R): 2/1/2, 2/2/2, 2/2/3 (if I remember my Wines correctly.)
3 Plains on River: 1/1/1, 2/1/2, 2/1/2
1 Floodplain: 2/0/1, 3/0/2, 4/0/2
4 River Hills: 1/1/1, 1/2/2, 1/3/2
Again, some of the River Tiles (even 1 in the Pre-Temple range) have not been explored yet. So I may be underestimating the settlement value of that area.
The "Alternate Site" drops the Floodplain (and most of the River Hills it could support) for a "River Hill with a Horse".
Other Notes: Epi and I agree on the location of an eventual "Sector 2" city (Cyan). I'm assuming that Strider would also agree that that would be his choice of location.
All things considered, it is still my opinion that we need to secure the Southern Horses and Gems, but I think that it should be a higher priority than many want... As for Sector 3, I'm thinking that Epi now has the better site, since it has more Forests than I do, only lacking for a Rocky Grassland, but making up for that with a Grass Cow.
And I think that 1 FPW and 2 Forests are enough for a start-up Factory... It's just that if you want to improve before you pop (i.e. Temple), I'm actually leaning Epi's way in Sector 3.
