City placement help

Why is the republic on 0% research. It looks like you got no strategic resource So you could attack Britain with an army of archers. At the very beginning I don't give a flying flip about buildings except for temples, wonders and aqueduct. I usually just research my own tech all the way. I usually go with 30% tax and 70% science. It also looks like you probably have all 16 civs. So it should be easy knocking out some civs to allow to expand.
Also no science equals no need for library. London would be interesting to get so attack Britain and trade that luxury resource for your iron and horses and gold. I have fould that corthouses are peace of junk in civ3. They are definitely worthless in the capital. Next time get bronze working and go directly towards monarchy cause despotism stinks. With that many civs warmonger is the only way to expand.

Bamspeedy wrote an article on this quite some time ago. I recommend that you should read it first. Everything you need to know about City Placement is in there.

Where might I find this? I checked and found that Bamspeedy has over 2000 posts, and there are 34 pages in this part of the forum (Strategies and Tips). I was hoping someone might be able to narrow down my search, especially if it wasn’t even posted in this part of the forum (nothing worse than spending hours looking for something that isn’t even there). Thanks.

I think it's in the War Academy (you can find the link on the left side of the main www.civfanatics.com page), a collection of strategy articles written for civ3.

(I'd link to it myself if I wasn't so lazy.)

Bamspeedy himself says that it's a bit outdated, though. I'd recommend looking through the first few pages of a few of the succession games threads in the Stories and Tales/Succession games forum - there's often a fair amount of discussion on where to put cities and why in those threads (look for 'dot maps').
