I just got a new copy of Civ2 after about 5 years, and the AI seems a lot more aggressive compared to my old version. (i.e. I can't seem to go through a whole game without eventually being at war with everyone, no matter how hard I try.)

Apparently this is a bug in the multiplayer edition, is there any way to fix that? Right now the only thing I could think of was changing rules.txt so I could get Eiffel Tower right away, but that's kinda wack...

I think there is a patch somewhere that improves attitude, but I've never used it.

If you have a 32 bit version of Windows, then you can probably downgrade Gold edition using instructions found here.

If you have a 64 bit version of Windows, you might try installing Gold in Puppy Linux (see this video for instructions on how to use virtualization and Puppy Linux to run Classic civ 2) and attempting to downgrade from there. I've never tried that, however, so there is no guarantee that it will work.

Hi Cordeo

I agree, I don't see the point in playing MGE or TOT with overly aggressive AI.

I play classic and do not see myself changing.

Why not purchase classic on ebay?

D.
