Hey all,

I was wondering what do the civ2 expansion packs give since I never tried any of the Test of Time or the MGE ( is that it? what does it stand for?). Are there any other packs?

cheers

The expansion packs I know about:
Conflicts in Civilization (CiC)
Fantastic Worlds (FW)
Multiplayer Gold Edition (MGE)
Test of Time (ToT)

I would suggest that you go for MGE or ToT (or both). They both have multiplayer, but aren't compatibel with each other. The main difference is that that ToT has much more advanced scenario capabilities, but it never got very popular.

I believe the correct order was:
Classic (2.42) (16-bit) - original game (patched) with few scenarios
Conflicts in Civilization (16-bit) - added scenarios
Fantastic Worlds (16-bit) - additional editting tools
MultiPlayer Gold Edition (32-bit) - multiplayer plus events
Test of Time (32-bit) - improved multiplayer scenario editing

I'm not positive about the 16/32-bit part (I'm summarizing from tidbits I picked up in Tech Support), so others are invited to help with corrections. The 16/32 part becomes important as we move toward 64-bit Windows, which does not seem to support 16-bit processes anymore.

just to confirm Conflicts in Civilization came between 2.42 and FW.

It featured 12 new scenarios:

After the Apocalyspe
Age of Discovery
The Age of Napoleon
Alexander the Great
Alien Invasion
American Civil War
The Crusades
The Great War
Jihad: The Rise of Islam
The Mongol Horde
The War for Independence
World War: 1979

Fantastic Worlds added the editors which gave users some teeth to make scenarios.

Were those user-created scenarios, or did MicroProse copyright them?

Is there anyway I can download conflicts in civilisation? Do any of these expansion packs add any new concepts to the gameplay like civil wars for example?

BTW, when I try to get a civil war it never works even though it worked a couple of years ago.

What is needed in order to have a 100% civil war?

Twelve of the scenario's are created by the Microprose employees and eight of the scenario's are created by users.

I've made photographs of the civilization II boxes I posess.
