Well the title says it all. I have been looking at Civ 3 mods, and I can't really decide for myself. Also, I can't tell if they are compatable with complete edition or not, and I don't want to install one and screw up my vanilla c3c install.

Also, I would like a mod that adds a few new faces( civs or leaders) to the game, but is not totally necessary as long as the gameplay is new, and a bit more advanced than vanilla.

Any suggestions would be great, thanks guys.

I would say in my point of view all mods are compat. The ones that are for vanilla will go into the vanilla portion and not be a problem. The ones for C3C will go into that scenario folder.

Some may in fact may not work at all as they were never really ironed out and have missing pieces. There are many mods that deal only with parts of the game, such as terrain or leaderheads or popheads.

I like and use the Metallic Interface that replaces the whole interface with a new look and female advisors from I guess fashion models as I do not know any of their names.

There are completed maps that have units placed and a new look and new units like AoI. There are several very good complete mods such as CCM and RaR.

I prefer CCM to all of them, but others are very good.

It did not come with my vanilla CD from day 1. It is not in my day 1 PTW, nor my day 1 C3C. It may be on my bonus CD that I got for pre ordering C3C, but I am too lazy to dig it out.

I downloaded c3complete from gamersgate, I have no disc.

I don't have vanilla civ3.... I did about 5 years ago but I've since lost it.

Complete has vanilla, ptw as well as Conquest. They removed some content for PTW that comes with C3C and I would guess complete. It used to be available for download, but I think they removed that as well now.

I remember at least one mod relied on some units from the original PTW.

Are you looking for an epic mod or a just a fun scenario or what? I play a fair amount of AoI. CCM or worldwide are good epic mods.

Anything that works with C3C should work with complete. Mods should never screw up your install if you backup any of the original files you try to write over. I use a graphics mod (rhye's) for my game, but I made a backup of the original files so I can play normal games with enhanced graphics.

Asking in the creation and customization forum will get you a lot more help.

Happy modding!

I play ROC at the moment, and it's good fun - although the settlers are very expensive! I've also heard good things about the Medieval European Mod.
