Civ 3 complete problem

Hi all. I like civ3 and still play it. However I have had to buy a new version cos my original version got lost in a move and i have a new PC.
I have a major problem that i hope someone can help me with. In game play whenever a civ (me included) loses their first city, their entire civ is destroyed. Can anybody please help me!!!????

You have Elimination Mode turned on. Start up a new game and look for check boxes at the bottom of one of the startup screens. One of those checkboxes is for Elimination Mode. Uncheck it, and you should be good to go.

I recently upgraded to Windows 7, and a newer computer. I installed Civ3 Complete, and when I start a new game it only gave me the option to play up to seven rivals. I was playing Civ3 Complete on an older machine running Win XP, and it would allow me to play up to 15 rivals. Has anyone had this problem? If yes, were you able to fix this problem?

When you generate a game, look at the map size. A standard map has 7 opponents, and larger maps have more.
